A lot of people applauded her move, however, Twitterati went against her by trending #boycottchhapaak. Though Deepika or the makers of the film have not sent out any official statement, Former JNU President Kanhaiya Kumar has addressed her visit.

After Deepika Padukone's visit to JNU, her Chhapaak got in a lot of trouble because of the flak it received on social media. People also bashed the makers for changing the name and religion of Laxmi Agarwal's acid attacker in the film Chhapaak. Reports stated that the makers changed Nadeem Khan to Rajesh, hence changing the religion. This turned out to be false as the name of the attacker in the film is said to be Bashir and not Rajesh.
Today morning, there were reports of Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer filing a petition to call a stay on the film as she wasn't given due credit. But the matter has been solved as the Delhi's Patiala Court passed an order for makers to give credit to the lawyer.
